Reid,
Good idea, but wouldn't work for me in SC. Lake Hartwell gets up to 92  
degrees by the end of July. Great for swimming, but not for chilling  beverages.

When we're out cruising for days on end, we carry  a mesh bag that can be
securely closed. When we anchor we put the wine  bottle (unopened) in the
bag, attach a line to it, and toss it overboard.  By the time we've finished
tidying up the boat and made sure the anchor is  holding, the wine is 
chilled
and ready for  drinking!
