I have the same problem, the link sent by Gary is a good way to fix. My stringers were water damaged and were failing. I had completed half the repair before I saw the link. Good advise. I am now replacing the floor boards that can be removed easily so that I can inspected the hull for standing water. I also found black mold which I have removed with vinegar and bleach. I also used a Fogger to get areas that I could not reach.
