[Rhodes22-list] Cockpit Table Base

I am a little surprised at myself, but for the 16-17 years I have had a Rhodes 22, I have just learned to live with water accumulation in the table base in the cockpit. recently I had to replace this escutcheon because having it fill with water and sit there until it evaporated had finally deteriorated the metal to a point of allowing water into the deck. I live inland and I am pretty certain my boat has also always been inland, this is probably a larger problem for my Rhodie friends on the coasts.
 
My surprise is that I have never asked this list, nor "heard" on this list any comments dealing with this. Does everyone else just live with it like I do, or is there a solution I am totally unaware of?
