If it says 40A, it's a fuse.  Fuses are rated in amperage (A) and specifies the amount of current that can pass through before the fuse blows.  I don't recognize the part, put I expect something like this might suffice.  If the fuse is blown, your switch and motor lift will not work. - rob

I'm guessing it may be a circuit breaker or fuse.  All I can see through the rust is 40 A
