After a successful mast raising and launch, I sailed my new to me
Rhodes 22 for an hour or so. Tied up in my slip and went home to bed.
Next morning I found boat with water in the main cabin at bunk height.
A little bit of panic followed by a friend bringing a homestyle sump
pump which quickly brought the water down to the top of the
centerboard truck.
Obvious that several bolts near the front of the centerboard trunk
were not very tight. Tightened them and greatly reduced leakage.
Called Stan and he confirmed washers were too small. Bought some one
inch fender washers and replaced 10. Still have very slight leak near
bolts even after replacing washers.
I can't get a hold of Stan today. Will someone please give me all the
details on how to properly fasten the centerboard trunk flange.
Unfortunately my computer was on board down low and was ruined. This
is handicapping me from researching
Gasket questions
It has a brand new rubber gasket.
I understand no sealant should be used, correct?
1 inch fender washer under bolt head?
What is correct washer size for the nut on the underside? Should I use
a lockwasher? Or should I get nylock nuts?
What is proper torque?
Finally, can someone explain what the three little bolts are which go
through a rubber pad on the top of the centerboard trunk. What is the
proper way for them to be installed?
Can you please respond directly to my email rather than waiting for
the list to send a group of responses.
