[Rhodes22-list] Urgent centerboard gasket questions

Hey Rummy, same thing happened to me....my cb cap was fastened with about 10 bolts with nuts, the rest were 10 or 12 ga, ss sheet metal screws... 

What I did was, working one at a time, remove the sheet metal screw, drilled out the hole through top and bottom of flange and replaced it with a 1/4 x 1 1/2" hex head bolt and nut, with washers, ss of course. This allowed a controlled leak with a minimum of water and allowed me to replace all of them,  then drawing each snugly, compressing the gasket sufficiently to prevent leakage. Slept well that night, there were about 60 screws to replace. Boat has remained perfectly dry the entire season.
