[Rhodes22-list] Lowering motor on electric lift if battery dies?

Unfortunately, I had discovered last Fall, soon after the boat was delivered,
that Stan had not wired the two batteries separately on the switch. The
switch, although it has 4 positions - off, 1, 2, both -- essentially has two
modes -- everything on, or everything off. Stan tried to tell me how to
rewire the switch, but I was unable to follow the wires or even get access
to the switch. So, Stan has promised to fix this next time he has someone in
my area. (But I'm far from NC.) Meanwhile, I suppose cutting the belt would
be the only option if I really need to lower the motor and the batteries are
dead. Not a great likelihood of this, but I like to be prepared. On Kentucky
lake, I really need a motor to cross the barge channel and get in and out
of the marina.
