We have made the trip to the Bahama's many times...but never in a
Rhodes22...:) I think that is the perfect Bahama's boat. We went over every other
year for almost 10 years while living aboard our cruising boat..My husband
and I have both commented while refurbishing out Rhodes22...how nice it
would be to take her over..health and age will prevent us...but we sure
admire you all getting together to make that trip..We normally checked in at
Bimini and did the normal route ..... Chub...Nassau... down to Georgetown
stopping at all the out islands along the Exumas..across to Long and then up
to Cat and through the upper Bahamas and home to Port Canaveral...We
enjoyed every trip...Hopefully you will send reports as you go...:):)
ENJOY!!!!!!!!! Helen

Chris,
Are you talking about the Sapona? It is located near Alicetown, Bimini.
It is an old concrete ship (constructed out of concrete, that is) that was
used as target practice during WWII and was the target for the practice run
of the "Lost Patrol" of Bermuda Triangle fame. It was also used as a
staging area for running alcohol during prohibition. And a great place to
snorkel and scuba dive. Or...are you talking about an even older wreck...maybe
some treasure hunting?

I would like to make another run over there and may join if schedule
permits. Between you, Ted, me, and anyone else, we would have a nice little
flotilla ... and maybe create some marketing buzz to re-kickstart Stan's
boatbuilding business.

Hey Ted,
I'm open and flexible as far as a launch point. Key Largo sounds good.
Bimini is the easiest to check into and I want to check out a wreck that is
in the area. Very, very old. and not mentioned by anyone I've talked to.
We would stay in the Bahamas for 4-6 weeks I should think. I would be
thrilled to have another Rhodes or two to tag along.
Timewise I think it would be in April. I would like to get back to Fl by
no later than mid May so I can ship the boat to Italy by early June. Lets
keep in touch, maybe recruit a few fellow Rhodies? I'll send some links on
what the Enosis is up to in a couple of weeks or so. Things never quite
go as you plan.
