Hi Alex,

I sail Lake Erie in a 1996 model. Can't explain the groaning rudder, but
the boat is easy to sail with a neutral helm. So even if the rudder
groans, it should not have to move that much.

I advocate a 9.9 hp outboard for Lake Erie chop in a head wind, getting in
and out of rivers with a strong current and reversing in a windy harbor.

Regards,

Rick
