Batteries! I used to get 5-7 years out of a marine deep discharge battery.
Nowadays, I was happy with 2-3 years.
What I have learned is that it rarely pays to buy the much more expensive
agm batteries. They just are not made as well as they were a few years ago.
I have adopted the strategy of buying an Interstate battery from Costco mid
season. They are pricier than the cheapo Walmart batteries that I had been
purchasing. They come with a one year full replacement cost warranty. If I
have any issue with the battery next season, I plan to have them replace it
under warranty at no cost (within the year). If they are going to make the
battery so poorly that it lasts less than 3 years, I will simply use the
replacement warranty to ensure that I have a power source in good working
order each year.

It was the batteries. And the strap was loose. And the contacts were a bit
corroded. And the electric winch may need replacement. Aah a lesson in
battery maintenance and related conveyances.
