     "Rummy," of course, was his nickname.  At the christening, the name offered up to the gods was "Rum Runner."  The Captain lived up to his assumed title:  He had the sharp mind of a first class engineer, the wit of Samuel Clemens, a strict devotion to all that is Rhodes 22 and he was something of a pirate.  Most importantly, he was the authority on every question that found this list.  He was essential in every discussion; every thread on the list seemed seemed incomplete until his comment appeared He is unforgettable as an adviser and fixer of all things that break--- or will break.  He is fondly remembered as a true friend whose ulterior motive was to help--- you.

     The line of sight on open water is seventy-three miles.  The Rum Runner sailed to that point on the horizon, till it was no more than a speck.  He sails a reach into fair weather. The storm is back here, with us.
