Graham,
You must be suffering from houseatosis. Everything we do to our boats is a
learning experience, that's why this list exists. You only have another 4
or 5

Perfect. Thanks very much. It was -20 degrees C this morning and Lake
Ontario is now frozen solid so all my boat work is what I can do inside the
house. I am painting the rudder with System Three WR-LPU paint and it has
turned out to be another learning experience. Just once I would like to be
able to just do something without it being another damned "learning
experience".

Graham,
Apologies; somehow I got the impression you were only dealing with the aft
lowers. The distance from the forward edge of the aft tang to the aft edge
of the forward tang is 34 1/8", on both sides.
Now all you need to install the new chainplates is another 70 degrees :)

Thanks so much for such a detailed map for the chainplate placement. I
would
have been satisfied with a measurement from either corner of the coach
house
but this is much better. The only problem is that it locates only the aft
chainplates and I need the forward ones as well. With the aft chainplates
located so accurately simply knowing the distance between them will
suffice.
Thanks for taking the time and such care. I hope I can return a favour.

Graham,
A drawing showing measurements for the aft lower tangs is attached.
I used a carpenter's square to make the measurements. I butted the corner
of
the square against the aft end of the tab and read the measurement at the
leading edge of the lower radius where the cabin top is raised about 1/2",
near the back of the pop-top. I then put the corner of the square against
the lower edge of the radius where the pop-top rim meets the cabin top and
measured radially out to the aft end of the tang, at its inside edge.
Hopefully you can make sense of the measurements. Let me know if you'd like
to have them referenced differently.

If anyone with access to their boat at this time of year could give me the
precise measurements for the location of the upper chainplates, I would be
most grateful.
