    Susan,
Our ready solution to problems like this is pictures, although you are rightly concerned with lowering the mast.  A gin pole rig can work if Stan's system is not at hand, but I was sure that Lee was equipped with the mast system.  Maybe one of the local skippers can lend a hand, is this a Call to Action, guys?

Mary Lou,Thanks so much for your help. The photos are a great help. I will do asyou suggest, but I am not optimistic. Unfortunately, I think hauling theboat will be needed to check this out, given the facilities at the marina.I don't have Stan's mast lowering system so how difficult will it be tolower the mast without it? Unwrap it and if itis all the way out, see if you can furl it. If it is not all the way out,see if you can pull it further out and then furl it. If the sail is indeedsitting lower in the slot, it may have come loose at the head.If it is the head of the sail the repair could be very simple or a bit morecomplex depending on what failed. However, you will have to lower the mastin either case. If you have spot where there is a lot of dock to work from(the furling tube has to come all the way out of the mast to make therepair) and the mast lowering system and some helprers, it is doable withouthauling the boat. The head of the sail is most likely held to the furling tube with a tab onthe sail that is held in place by a tang on the mast attached with a screwon each side. If this is the case, the failure could be either the screw orthe tab on the sail that the screw goes through. If it is the screw, the repair is simple - just replace the screw and youshould be good to go. If it is the sail, you may be able to just put thescrew through the tab and go sailing or you may need someone with a heavyduty sewing machine like a sailmaker to replace the tab.I've attached two photos of the attachment point taken when we replaced ourmain. Here's hoping you just need a calm day and the sail will furl but in anyevent best of luck with the repair.Mary Lou1991 R22 FretlessRock Hall, MDAt 08:43 PM 6/17/2015, you wrote:>Well, had myself a bit of an adventure today.
