Thanks Ted,

I may take your approach with bimini - look at weather forecast and leave it
up if nothing threatening  for a few days and I'm heading back out soon.

And IMF: "I simply wrap it around the mast and secure with bungie cord. ( I
am horrible with knots) " 
That's actually what I was trying to say.
