[Rhodes22-list] Port tack problems

Ted:

I don't have the IMF mast so can't speak from experience. To sight whether
the mast is vertical you have to get you eye right up against a straight
edge. I use the sail track but there must be some other straight edge on the
IMF that you can use. In any respect I would follow the manual rather than
my advice if there is any inconsistency. The IMF is, as I understand it, a
much more rigid spar that has little potential to bend. Tuning it will be
different.

Would you please take pity on those of us who have already experience snow
and stop mentioning how nice the sailing is where you are. There must be
some nautical etiquette that prohibits that.

She is an IMF rig. I suspect the rigging is to blame as well. I can't really
tell if the mast is "straight" by looking up. May be its just my bad depth
perception.

I'll start over and retention the stays in the correct order. I also set the
backstay tension hand tight but not too tight--so to speak.

I usually tension them hand tight--no tools. They tend to go slightly slack
on the leeward side.

Another epic day sailing today. Low 80s and a perfect warm 11-14 mph breeze
out of the east.

Cheers,
Ted
