Bob,

I agree with you on the tiller controls.  It's the big difference between
the Mercury and the Tohatsu.  Mercury has been using it on larger outboards
for years; I don't understand why more manufacturers haven't adopted it.

I bought an 8 hp long shaft Mercury last year for my Recycled Rhodes because
it has the throttle and gear shift on the tiller handle. This makes it much
easier to operate in the marina.
