I recently acquired a 1970 Rhodes. For a 50+ year old boat it appears to be
in fairly good condition. However the centerboard is missing. I understand
the missing board is the same shape as the rudder. I believe I can build
one using the rudder as a pattern. What I do not know is how the
centerboard attaches to the boat. There are two large pins at the top of
the housing with the rope going over the top of the pins, but I do not see
any sign of a pin at the bow end of the keel.
Also, how well does a Rhodes sail with the centerboard in the raised
position. Am eager to put her on the water, but don't know if I can wait
until I make or acquire a centerboard.
thanks for any input, pictures, or diagrams
