Mark,
Do you have access to a volt meter? That would help in figuring this out.
My guess is, of the three wires going up the mast, one is probably the positive wire to the steaming light (mounted near the spreaders), one is probably the positive wire going to the anchor light (mounted at the top of the mast) (assume your boat has one, mine does not), and one is probably the common (negative) wire that serves both lights. It's typical that the white wire is the common wire in most electrical wiring, but who knows in this case. If you have a 9 volt battery, you can touch it to two of the three prongs and see what light comes on. Check all three combinations. If in two cases one of the lights comes on then the wire that is common to both of those tests is the common wire. If you connect the battery to two terminals and nothing comes on, you have the two positive wires.
Now to figure out what the wires are in the plug, you'll need the voltmeter. Turn on your steaming light and with the volt meter, check all the choices in the plug. You should be able to figure out which is positive and negative for the streaming light. Now repeat for the anchor light. You should be able to figure out how to wire your plug from there. - Rob

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] wires for mast light
Dear Rhodies
I purchased a reconditioned boat from General Boats that works great except for one item. The wire from the mast head light has a male three prong plug while the female plug at the base of the mast is four prong. I have a new four prong male plug to install. There are three wires from the light:
white, blue and grey. Which of the three wires go into which of the four locations on the four prong plug? Any suggestions?
Thanks
Mark
