Frank,

I recently replaced an old and very problematic Yamaha 9.9HP with a
Torqueedo Cruise 4.0 RL with two Power 26-104 batteries installed. It was
pricey but thus far it's worked great, at least in relatively good
conditions. I can't comment on the pod drive or the less powerful options,
though.

General Boats did the purchasing and installation. Thanks to Chris Cowie, I
imagine, they have a significant price discount, particularly on the
batteries, and the outboard. The set up is very convenient; the charging of
the batteries, the remote control, etc. The only let down was the
tiller-motor linkage system, which can't be used - at least the design I had
in place for my Yamaha. This owes to the fact that the vertical axis of
rotation of the Torqueedo is much closer to the stern than that of normal
outboards. So while one can physically link tiller and motor, that linkage
severely limits the range of motion of the tiller. In summary, one needs to
to lock the motor in the straight position. Not really a 'solution', but not
an critical problem either.

Best regards

José
