[Rhodes22-list] Ethanol problems

I just bought Av Gas (100LL) from our local airport (Port Clinton, Ohio) for our Power Paraglider (which is single cylinder, 2-stroke, and 24 hp.). The cost just was just under $5 per gallon. Avgas is really nice stuff. It does not have nearly the smell that typical car gas has and it seems to have a very long shelf life. We just flew our PPG on fuel that was at least 2.5 years old. I have not used it for my outboard motor, but it might be a very good solution. Last year I barely used one full 4 gallon tank for the whole summer.

Hi, I just want to pop in here to say that I use Aviation Gas from my local small airport in Edgewater, MD for my Mercury Outboard. It is ethanol free and I think pretty much any small local airport has it and will sell it to anyone. It is more expensive $7 to $11 a gallon.
I suspect this is very much like the Racing Gas mentioned in an earlier post.
So, if you can't find a nearby ethanol-free gas station try your local airport.
(If I understand correctly, small airplanes really don't like ethanol in their gas. I think it causes them to stop working and thus endangers the lives of their passengers. :-)
