[Rhodes22-list] forestay length and furling gear

I have concluded that my old CDI furler is toast and am in the process of
deciding what to replace it with. I would like to hear any suggestions for
replacement members of the list might have. I am currently inclined towards
the Alado. Does anyone have experience with this system?

Also, I am trying to figure out what the length of the forestay should be.
My current forestay has a 5" extender below the turnbuckle. Is that common
on Rhodes or is my boat the exception? If I measure the forestay and include
the extender the total length is 27' 9 1/4". That seems long to me as the
specs for the boat stipulate 26.9'. Might my rig have been set up with the
mast raked back?

Does anyone know what proper length of the forestay? If it is actually
shorter than what I have I might need to lengthen the aft stays. I plan to
replace the forestay as mine has a number of nasty kinks in it. Meanwhile I
really don't know what length I should specify.

Help with this would be appreciated.
