[Rhodes22-list] forestay length and furling gear

Rick:

Thanks, that is good advice. I was thinking I would measure the diagonal
between the clew and the centre of the foil edge to get a measure of the
furling line that needs to be wound on the drum. How does sail area give me
that measure?

Graham

If you have a genoa type foresail (150 - 175%), order a CDI or Alado furler
by sail area, not forestay length. That way, the drum will be large enough
to handle a decent diameter furling line. However, that may mean the foil
will have to be cut down or matched to a shorter model.
