I agree with the rest and leave my topping lift on the boom. Just make sure
that it is long enough that it doesn't interfere with the mainsheet when
pulling the boom down. That should be obvious but that was something I did
back when. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't flatten the sail until I
realized that the topping lift was holding the boom up.

this may be a silly question......but since I'm so new to this....I'm sort
of lost as to while one is sailing does the topping lift get removed from
the end of the boom and if so where is it tied off or do you leave it
attached.....thanks for any help.....also it would be great if I could get
some sort of help by a phone call if thats proper here.......thanks again
