Joe,
I will be sending a letter with an enclosed stamped envelope to you tomorrow. I am anxious to see your traveler modification. Do you have a zip code?
Steve Bauman, I sail "Misty Anne" on Sandusky Bay, Ohio

Further news on the new traveler.
Ok, as soon as it was installed it was obvious how to use it. Just tug the long line one way or the other and the traveler moves, then it stays in place. How? I do not know. “Mirabile visu” for those of you who read Latin.
I raced the boat on Sunday. 10 knot wind gusting to 20 on a lake with hills nearby to screw up the wind direction. I was racing against a 25’ keel boat with an experienced skipper and crew. I had neglected to arrange for crew because heavy rain had been predicted but failed to arrive. Needless to say, I came in second in both races due to screwing up some seriously good starts using my audio count down timer. Ahh, back to the traveler: it works great allowing a very fine control of the area of your main that really drives the boat. However, when a squall gust hits one needs to release the main sheet to avoid over driving the boat. If I had a heavy crew I could have used them to level the boat.
I now have Stan’s original double Back stay traveler with my own improvements available for postage. I’ll send a photo if anyone is interested. Limited time and limited time only
Joe
