Seems like a long time ago. Now of course you need to do a similar log of your adventures and post it here. Those of us who live closer to home these days can live somewhat vicariously through the postings of people like you and Chris G. and Bill W. That said Tara has her own Facebook page where we post our cruises however short. Nothing since last fall but we do feel like we re reliving some of our adventures on the R22 and we encourage everyone to post their cruises here or elsewhere for evreyone to enjoy. https://www.facebook.com/TaraTRosborough/ Mary Lou On 2/27/2019 3:37 PM, Michael Corley wrote: > Thank you Mary Lou! I have to say that the pickup was a pretty horrendous process, but it?s probably better that I don?t give the details here. I reckon this is not helping with your problem of knowing what?s happening with your boat though. Sorry. I am attaching a picture of your boat. Funny you are mentioning the registration number of your boat, because I happen to have pictures of her from when I went to the factory to pick up mine on November 21st. I have to say that the pickup was a pretty horrendous process, but it's probably better that I don't give the details here. I reckon this is not helping with your problem of knowing what's happening with your boat though. Sorry. I am attaching a picture of your boat. Stan replaced the other on refit. I figured out about everything but one mystery wire in the bilge a foot short of the aft battery, dangling open. It?s outdoor cable but not tinned? It?s hard to see. It may have been an abandoned mod by the PO. The outboard generator goes to the battery switch. I didn?t take it apart to confirm it charges the selected battery (s). As you can imagine, when under power this applies a slight port steer. As interested as I am in what would have caused this slight curve to the rudder, I am more interested in repairing/replacing this issue. Thanks in advance for your thoughts / suggestions. I can't be sure I can see the curve but it looks to me like there might be a bend at the join between the rudder and the head. That might be possible. I just don't know how the rudder itself could bend without breaking. When I rebuilt my rudder I found that there were large voids in it and undertook to fill them with epoxy. Removing any paint might show cracks and if so see if there is a pattern that shows the effect of internal pressure. Just a guess. > > Graham Stewart > Agile. I had prepared the outboard (started on the first pull!), raised the mast (went smoothly!) and tensioned the rigging. I was ready to launch, but the first problem arose when trying to pull the tongue of the trailer. I couldn?t extend it because the cable of the brakes (hydraulic?) was too short and I didn?t think it was a good idea to disconnect it. This, combined with the fact that the ramp was not very steep, that meant the truck was going to have to go in the water. Not great. I tried anyway, but the ramp was too short, and going pas the end of the ramp meant more trouble. The hull of the Rhodes was still standing 3-4 inches above the water and I just couldn?t launch, so I decided to abort. My boat is back on the boatyard and I?m hoping to get in the water with a forklift next weekend. The great thing is raising the mast was easy and I am now confident I can do it again fairly quickly. One question I have is how much tension to put in the rigging. I put 300 lbs in the upper shrouds and 200 on the four lower shrouds. Do that sound about right? (For what it?s worth, I have an IMF.)
