[Rhodes22-list] Unsure how to remove “hose” for centerboard line

Given the relative sizes of the line (FYI, it’s called the centerboard pennant) and the hose, I would not attempt to change out the hose with the pennant inside. Change out the empty hose, thread the pennant thru the hose, and finally attach the pennant to the centerboard.
A good hardware store has a huge selection of hoses. I changed out my centerboard pennant hose several years ago and I recall having several choices at my local Ace Hardware. It took longer to drive to the hardware store and back than the job itself required.

I'm concerned about breaking fiberglass past this point. Goodness, I'll grab some of the cheap hose and give that a shot - I'll simply cut the old tube off with a knife.

> Mine is a section of water hose between two through-hulls. The line runs through it and also the cockpit seat water drains into the centerboard trunk. The problem when i got my boat was someone had cut the hose too short and it was leaking into the cabin. (32 + points of water ingress.)

> The trick is getting the line through the hose while bending it enough to get it on the through hull barbs. A heat gun is needed to soften the hose but keep the line moving inside so it doesnt melt.

>> I thought taking off the 52 or so screws was going to be the time consuming part, but I’ve spent more time trying to take off the hose assembly that goes around the centerboard line into the cabin. I’ve searched the forums, but I’m probably looking for the wrong part. I’m not sure what this is called, but I need to replace the line to the centerboard, and this is in the way. The hose looks double layered, and it’s very stiff. I recently bought this boat and removed 10 gallons of water from the bilge. It seems as if water has been leaking in here among a dozen other places. Can anyone provide me with ideas for taking the hose off? Thanks
