Graham,
This morning I used a tapered wooden peg, tapped it into the existing hole
and then cut it off flush with the rudder. I use a forstner bit twice the
size of the original hole centering it on the wood peg and it worked great.
I have a nice hole to use Roger’s technique on and I was pleasantly
surprised to find dry core out from the original hole.
