INSURANCE:
The wood mount portion of my motor mount broke off - it was rotten under the paint but looked to be in perfect condition.
My insurance company (Gieco) though Boat US, did not cover the mount because it does not cover rot, but gave me $2,600 for the Yamaha, which came from a local repair estimate (which was tough to acquire during Covid).
I have not yet fixed the Yamaha
I was surprised they paid anything.
When I shoved the CB though the CB cap last year fall, I didn’t even think to file a claim until it was too late.
They probably would have ’totaled’ the boat at its stated value.
I did point that out to the adjuster who came to look at the boat.
I fixed it myself and it took a L O N G time.
Now - its better than new.
