Why don’t I just trim where the bulge is now?Reuben MezrichCell:410-499-8922Pelican Cove in Sarasota and Back Bay in Boston > On Oct 29, 2022, at 7:02 PM, jpd9668 <jpd9668 at gmail.com> wrote:> > Reuben, From the bulge pull the insert out of the black rub rail moving toward the shortest end. Then go back to the bulge and begin pressing the insert back into the rub rail until you reach the bow or stern. If there is excess, trim to fit. You can use a hair dryer to help soften the insert. I also used spray silicon to ease the process of getting the insert to "snap" into the flanges of the rail.Joe DempseyS/V RespiteDeltaville, VASent via the Samsung Galaxy S22 5G, an AT&T 5G smartphone> -------- Original message --------From: Reuben Mezrich <reuben.mezrich at gmail.com> Date: 10/29/22 4:23 PM (GMT-05:00) To: rhodes22-list at rhodes22.org Subject: [Rhodes22-list] Rub rail problem During Hurricane Ian all the water In our little harbor in Sarasota ran out as the storm approached and then returned as the storm passed, but we had no real surge. As the boat made its journey down to the mud and then back up again it appears the rub rail (or at least the red part that stands proud of the bulk of the rub rail caught on a fender and popped out of it’s fitting. When I got back to the boat only a few feet at the bow and the stern on the starboard side was still attached. Following the instructions on the Taco website (Taco makes the rub rail that Stan uses) I managed to get most of it attached, except about 3 inches in the middle. The rest of the rub rail, all the way around the boat is attached nicely and there is no slippage. I assume the rubber stretchedSo what to do? Would heat help or hurt? I suppose I could cut off a bit, but I think that’s a last resort Any thoughts?Reuben -------------- next part --------------A non-text attachment was scrubbed...Name: IMG_1904.jpgType: image/jpegSize: 100431 bytesDesc: not availableURL: <http://rhodes22.org/pipermail/rhodes22-list/attachments/20221029/a67c2479/attachment.jpg>-------------- next part --------------Reuben MezrichCell:410-499-8922Pelican Cove in Sarasota and Back Bay in Boston
