That's about where I'm at, first in PA you need an official (police officer etc) to certify that the plate is
not readable, then a weight certification which may have to be completed by a mechanic (not sure about that one) then a form (and a check) to the state DMV. The part I'm not sure about is Gross weight and capacity which I think will be used to determine whether I need to have brakes installed. I plan to
Install brakes anyway, I'd just prefer to have the trailer registered first rather then spend the money, only to find out there's some other (possibly insurmountable) bureaucratic hurdle to overcome. If anyone has that info, I'd prefer to be forewarned.

Thanks,

I bought a Triad Trailer from  fellow Rhodie On LI once about 8 years ago - it was a project trailer and had no title.  I fixed it and made it usable, new wheels, axel, extension bar, etc -  and used it to launch  at the beginning of the season and retrieve in the fall. Last Fall I had to leave it at the ramp while I brought the boat to its mooring and I got a traffic ticket for an unregistered trailer. The DMV told me I could take it to a local weigh station and get a weight certificate - them bring that to the DMV to register it. I have yet to do that, but I will. Ric SV Dadventure HBNY

Unfortunately Triad trailers is only able to provide information on trailers 1996-present.  SO.....
Does anyone have a single axle trailer of mid 80's vintage, mines an '86,  who can tell me the capacity and gross weight figures that should be on the plate,  or better yet, provide a readable picture of your plate (feel free to obscure the serial # if you like).  I need this info to register and it does not appear on the title. My plate is not readable (pic attached)

Hi all,
I have an '80's vintage Triad trailer (painted steel, not galvanized) that I need to register.  I have a title, but unfortunately the manufacturers plate on the trailer is not readable.  I'm attaching a picture of my plate so you can see what I mean.  I'm wondering if anyone has a single axle trailer of that vintage (mid 80's, mines an '86) and can tell me the capacity and gross weight figures that should be on the plate,  or better yet, provide a readable picture of your plate (feel free to obscure the serial # if you like).  I need this info to register and it does not appear on the title.

Thanks,
  Peter
