[Rhodes22-list] Wiring documentation - adding combination deck and steaming light

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but l recall reading somewhere about wiring LED steaming and anchor lights with the polarity reversed from each other and then swapping hot and cold leads to turn one or the other on thus avoiding a new cabin top connector or much new wiring.  Has anyone done this?  Sounds like it should work, can anyone confirm?  Anyone see a down side?
