I got new sails in from the shop I was keeping it at and they were the ones who took the old sails off, so I don't even have that to go off of. There are four screws in the top of the rod, but they enter the main hollow section and don't pinch the track or seem to serve any function other than something was probably attached to them at some point. I am including a picture. Any help would be appreciated. Also, for those that emailed me in maybe buying it, I got your messages and hope you get back to you today or tomorrow.? See attached photos of my Jib top and bottom. Main sail photo but is zoomed way out so hard to see. These are just eye straps I believe bent a little to fit around the furling tube. Mine were labeled "race-lite" but no part #. However, my original 1989 came from the factory with a single fat screw directly through the strap at each end directly into the furler. I don't recall what those 4 screws in your photo are doing but maybe just attaching a section of plastic core to your furling tube, probably overkill with 4. Also, I recall years ago really struggling to get my sailrite cleaned sails stretched back to use those original single screw holes. More recently, working solo, I just tied one end to a tree and had a 4 pulley system with a rope at the other end so I could use one hand to stretch the sail and one hand to put in the screws. It needs to be tensioned a little but not so much as to start bowing the furler. I think there were instructions from Stan on the list at one point about how tight to get these but I couldn't find it. Once I got the screws in and released my rope tension the sails looked about right. To recap:? This is my second season with my '86 Rhodes.? When I purchased the boat I made a point of pressing the seller "is the centerboard working, will I have any problems with the centerboard?" "It's fine" he assured me.The boat was on a trailer and test sailing wasn't an option.? Naturally when I got it in the water, the centerboard failed to deploy properly.? I spent my 1st season sailing on just the stub keel and trying everything I could (including diving and tugging, to get the board down.? Having no success I reluctantly removed the centerboard cap this spring.I couldn't find any obstruction, but the pennant line was old and stiff and was very hard to pull through the blocks which seemed to be in good shape.? After doing a bit of research I discovered that the line was bigger than the blocks were designed for, so I elected to replace the line with a new and smaller line.? Several folks recommended against the smaller line.? ?After reassembling the cap, reusing the gasket, the board deployed but I had a small leak, which led to another disassembling, carefully cleaning all the parts and reassembling....still leaking.? For the third try I drilled through many of the screw holes and used bolts with fender washers and nylon locking nuts.? I would have replaced them all, but some of the screws were too close to the trunk to allow for bolts.? I also reluctantly followed Rogers advise to use aquarium silicone sealant.? This time the boat stayed dry (thanks Roger).? The only problem was the centerboard would again not deploy.? So I've been sailing this season on the stub keel and planning on getting the boat on a lift to try to get the board loose without having to resort to removing the centerboard cap.? ?A couple of weeks ago I took some friends to the annual "steak on the lake" cook-out where a bunch of us anchor out by a sandbar and eat and socialize.? When we were leaving I managed to run onto the sandbar (maybe we'd eaten so much that the boat was sitting a bit lower-- depth sounder is now on my wishlist).? Being good sports a couple of my guests hopped out and pushed us off the bar and we headed back to the marina. The other day I was working on the boat and on a whim I uncleated the centerboard pennant as I do every so often.? Low and behold the board dropped right down as if it had been working all along!? I? have never had thought of grounding as a repair method but I guess once is maintenance, twice is abuse.? Yesterday I went for my 1st sail with the board down and can report that the boat points MUCH better with the board down!? Thanks to all who offered suggestions and advise. Joined the online bidding and bought the boat for a price I could not refuse. I never met the seller, so I will be posting questions about my boat that many of you hopefully will have the answer to. It needs some attention, I'm starting with the trailer bearings and lights/electrical. Can anyone give me part numbers for the wheel bearings and races? Attached are pictures of items that I do not know what they are for. The first one is on the starboard side behind the winch and cleat. What is this round chrome pipe/stud for? The second items are two "hat section brackets" on both sides of the rear of the trailer frame. They are on the frame forward of the vertical bracket that holds the tail light. They are about 1 3/8" high by 1 1/8" wide. If you look into one bracket to the other bracket on the other side of the frame they are somewhat inline. It looks like it might be for a tube to go from side to side. The brackets have a hole in the top of them possibly to pin a square tube in place. I did not get anything with the boat that looked like it would attach from side to side. Larry Willis Serenity Howell MI. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... For all things for the original Rhodes trailer such as the bearings, you may want to contact the builder of the trailer, https://www.triadtrailers.com/. Walmart has LED lamp kits for trailers that fit. I'm sure that they are fairly standard. The stainless steel mounts may have been used for life line mounts. Alternatively, they may have been for a bimini to provide shade. The attachments to the trailer are probably for winter stands or swing down wheels to support the trailer from tipping when on the hard. My trailer was a single axle, and I could not register it in my state (NH) the rhodes 22 is overweight for a single axle, I'll be having a second axle installed over the winter. See if your axle is 4000lb rated, the boats shouldn't weigh more than 2,500lb or so but the reqs depend state to state. I dont have brackets square like the ones in your picture but i mount my mast-raising device in that same spot, going long-ways across the trailer. Perhaps your mast raising device sockets/did socket in there? Those fittings behind your jib sheet winches look custom! I think i've seen new boats though that have chairs or grills attached there, members with newer boats post 1970 might have better ideas! Good luck on the water! And whereabouts are you?
