Hi Peter,
I'm the 2nd owner of a 2003 Rhodes. I'm pretty sure that Stan installed the knot and depth meters on this boat. Like Roger mentioned, both of these are mounted in lazarette, close to the cockpit drain thru hull. Both work very well there, and access is very good.
On the other hand, when I had an '81 Rhodes, I mounted a knotmeter thru hull on the starboard side of midline, aft of the water tank. I remember that on port tacks the paddle wheel would sometimes not function well.
