[Rhodes22-list] Gas Boot

After our last discussion on the boot to run both the electrical and gas
line through for the outboard, I bought one from West Marine. When it
arrived, I was unsure how to mount it.

Being concave, does it protrude into the transom, or out from the transom?
Is there a plastic, or metal ring that attaches over the rubber boot to hole
a good seal against the fiberglass? The rubber boot has bolt holes that are
countersunk, indicating that the boot would bolt on from the outside and
project out from the transom. If I mount it that way, there is nothing to
keep the boot flat against the transom, also the fiberglass edges would be
exposed to the lines running through the hole. Seems like it should go on
the other way. That is where I'm looking for the ring. The only other
thought I had, was to mount it projecting in, and cover it with a clamshell.

Boy, and I thought this was a simple task.
