Rigging, including the center board is under a great deal of pressure when 
under sail. Vibrations can cause the humming. In your case I would say that 
it is excessive and would require attention. Sounds to me like one of two 
things. The centerboard is loose and is vibrating from side to side on it's 
mount,  or it has a ding or deformity that needs to be taken care of. It's 
probably going to be a hard thing to figure out. Have you tried changing the 
amount of centerboard you have down?
