[Rhodes22-list] humming center board

Thanks for all the thoughts on this everyone. We were sailing between a
beam and a broad reach and were close to or at hull speed. I have not tried
pulling the board up part way but will the next time it happens. It hummed
a little last year, but not as loud. So, I think it is something that needs
attention.

I think I'll wait to the end of the season to mess with it - unless it
starts getting worse fast. The boat will need bottom paint this year and
I'll take a look at it then. From what Rummy said I think it most likely
needs to be tighten up a bit. Is this a difficult job? What is involved?
Do you have to do this from above via cap removal?

Rafe, D sharp? Are you sure it wasn't E flat? Maybe your rig just isn't
tuned right. :-)

I haven't notice any hum on my boat but we do hear the board wobbling back
and forth in its trunk when we sail downwind, so we usually pull it up on
that point of sail.

At what point of sail was your board humming? Does it go away if you pull
it up?
