Rummy, I found the invoice on the Honda 1000i that I
bought for the boat. It came from
norhwestpowertools.com for $629 with free shipping.
We've already had one power outage here since I bought
it but it didn't last long enough for a good field
test. My heating units are located in the attic. I
feel very confident that the generator would power the
fan on at least one of the units. The attic is
ventilated but the safer route would probably be to
run a cord out the window down to the deck and run the
genset outside. You'd still need candles for light
but at least your pipes wouldn't freeze. We had a
major ice storm in Tennessee about 93' or 94' and the
power stayed out for days. It dropped a huge oak tree
right at my front door that I had to cut up to get in
the house. The house had a wood stove so that solved
my heating problems until the power came back. The
Honda I have is not as big as I would like for home
power back-up use but at 26 pounds its a good
compromise. Good luck and happy thawing. Brad.
