the was not a lawyer(well it was :-) but a engineer, the conversion from electricity to microwave is not 100% efficient, the
inefficiency is most in the form of heat, the heat has to be removed from the unit and that is thought venting, on top of that the
heated food also generate heat that has to be removed from the unit thought venting. Last but not least, the unit was built for a
"cost point". it allot cheaper to uses a bigger fan that components that can stand heat. i.e. really needs the venting. BTW same
design problem water proofness, even splash proofness also long-term humidity expose.
