Also, to those on the other list who have given their inputs, Thank =
You.
I have a Triad uni-matic type trailer although my boat is a 1976. The =
bunk boards are indeed large, and they sit somewhat outboard where the =
hull has turned about 45 degrees up. They do not sit UNDER the hull =
per-se but are more angled. I have noticed that they do bend under load =
to conform to the shape of the hull there. Mine fit under the hull but =
near the break between the bottom and the sides (chine). Perhaps your =
boat is not far enough toward the front of the trailer. My bunkboards =
seem to be adjustable up and down but I have never needed to make any =
adjustments to anything. =20
There is but one cross member in the keel area (same with mine) but it =
does not appear that there was ever a support bracket there, however, =
just aft of the cross member, there are two holes in the angled cross =
members ( the cross members which run at a 30 degree angle (or so) back =
to the aft corners). I surmise that these holes had a roller pin =
between them at one time, but they are well aft of the first cross =
member (I thought you said there was only one cross member) and well aft =
of where I would logically place the weight of the boat. For now, I =
have a 4X4 wooden block attached to the first cross member and it seems =
to do an adequate job. My cross member, if we are talking about the =
same thing, has a roller attached that has cones on the ends and a =
cylinder in the middle. I assume the cone sections center the keel =
after the boat enters between the two padded 2x6? leadins that form a =
Vee from the aft part of the trailer. These leadins are sloped down =
from the rear of the trailer to the roller so the when the trailer is =
angled down on the ramp they will guide the hull into the center before =
it hits the roller. Forward of the roller are two padded 2x6? level =
members connected to the front of the trailer. (All 2x6? members have =
the 6 inch? dimension perpendicular,) These fit along and just outside =
the fixed keel that contains the centerboard and provide support for the =
hull along with the bunkboards. I imagine the distribution of weight =
between the bunk boards and the hull supports next to the keel can be =
adjusted by moving the bunk boards up or down. Seems like the bunk =
boards are mainly to keep the boat level while the boards next to the =
keel take enough of the weight to keep the hull properly shaped but I =
never really thought about it before, being of the =
if-it-isn't-broke-don't-fix-it school.
But you can see why I am curious what it SHOULD look like so I can get =
mine right.

Bob Hendrickson

All,
I am making the request, again. Does anyone have a photo of the =
area of their trailer which supports the keel? I am trying to re-create =
this area on my trailer. All I have to this point is a 4X4 wooden =
block. It does the job but I can't help but wonder what it really =
should look like.
Thanks for your time.
Fair Winds,
Bob Hendrickson
