[Rhodes22-list] My First Car

Steve,

I'm not sure you want to know this, as I am probably around your mother's age...I had a mattress in back. I bought the hearse from a funeral home, and it still had the little velvet curtains. The pillar lights worked. We found that if we closed the curtains, and turned on the pillar lights, no one ever bothered us.

On the down side, my father didn't let me park my car in the driveway. Whenever I did, we started getting condolence calls, and that unnerved him. I had to leave it on a friend's farm when I was in town. I took it to college and made a lot of money transporting bicycles, large trunks, and other big stuff to and from school. I made more than the car cost.

It was a lot of fun. There were a lot of stories attached to that vehicle.

Bill
