Ed,
It's my mom that lives down there. She and her husband live at Keeowee Key,
near Clemson, SC and just a couple miles from the Duke Power nuclear
facility. She, my wife and I drove up to Cashiers (about an hour from
Mom's) and Highlands to do a little shopping, lunching, sight-seeing, etc.
I confess, we never got out of the car to hike the trails and see the water
falls. It sounds like a "must" for our next visit though. We did take
special interest in driving along hwy. 11 AKA "The Trail of Tears." If
them ol' hills could talk, what stories they could tell!
As I understand it, when good old Strom Thurman wasn't busy boffing his
maid, he created the dams that made Keeowee, Hartwell, Lake Thurman, etc.
And I gotta pull for Clemson at the Peach Bowl. Go Tigers!
