I do not like the transom mount stuff, it has to be off the center line to stay out of the rudder and will end out of the water on
the "wrong" tack, pain in the ass, been their and done that, it turns out a fish finder will be cheaper then a  straight depth
finder, for no other reason then they can get it from the sailboat people. The problem is they make the number to small on fish
finder to be seen from the bulkhead. another pain in the ass :-) If you are only doing depth you can shoot it thru the hull in the
lasserret in a "gel" mount with drilling a hole in the hull(see west), just make sure that "stuff" moving in the  lasserret does not
take it out.
