[Rhodes22-list] Depthsounder

My used boat came with a depthsounder mounted under the portapotty just
forward of the mast. It shoots through the hull and is mounted in a tube
filled with mineral oil. The mineral oil is a bit of a pain but the
depthsounder
works fine. In my Catalina I epoxied the sounder to the bottom of the hull
and that also worked well. It is a good idea to minimize the holes in the
boat.
There is also a through-hull knotmeter but I have just left the filler
insert in and read my speed from the GPS.
