Bruce, 
I anchor alone quite a bit and I would recommend that you start 
the motor and keep it in neutral while you pull anchor out. You 
have bettter assurance this way. Engine is already on.
I just have no problem pulling it from the bow and positioning on 
its holder. When done, I go back and put engine in forward. Guess 
the large lake facotr is to my benefit here. Coves are pretty big. I go 
out to clean my boat because it is so hot in the marina.
