Today's paper had a spot about Rich Van Pham, the guy who lost his mast
sailing to Catalina and then drifted all the way to Costa Rica.  He did it
again!!!  He was found 15 miles from shore in an "ill-equipped" sloop, no
radio, no charts, no distress signals.  He said he was trying to sail to
Long Beach but was heading in the opposite direction.  He told them that he
had become lost and disoriented.  Gee, ya think?  The Coast Guard vessel
that found him exercised their authority to terminate Pham's trip and towed
the sailboat to the nearest port.

One would think his last adventure would've taught him something.  Guess
not.
