Rob,
I think the Briggs & Stratton is for fresh water use only.
I have a 6 HP Merc 2 Stroke and it works just fine. I sail inland lakes with
little current. As MJM said the tiller controls are a plus. Mine also has
electric start and small alternator. Electric start is great.
