Welcome to a fellow sort of Hoosier ( I bounce between docking in
Michigan City and
mooring in Monroe Harbor in Chicago). My mooring setup uses chocks on
either
side of the boat about 1 foot aft of the prow. There is a mooring
bridle (required
in Monroe harbor) which is a Y arrangement with the base of the Y going
to a
schakle on the buoy. The bridles are available from the Monroe Harbor
office
and somebody in the chicago West Marine makes them as a sideline. You
should
also get a mooring flag which will allow easy pickup of the mooring
lines, especially
while single handing.
