[Rhodes22-list] New Genny - Was Bullshit

Roger,

On this one, Rummy is completely sober. I have an OEM 175% genny by Doyle
and it tacks just fine in light or heavy air.

The heavy sailcloth may actually be the reason why it tacks easily in light
air. The weight of the cloth causes most of the sail to fall to the centerline
as the bow comes across the wind. A little tug on the new leeward sheet is
all it takes to coax the clue past the shrouds. (Admittedly, I use 1" diameter
shroud guards that smooth the passage of the clue.)

My biggest complaint is the foot of the genny often sweeps the eyebrow shades
off the forward ports. A line tied from the bow cleat to the lower mast
cleat cuts the problem by 90%. Since I so rarely need to go forward, I don't view
the line as much of a hazard.
