[Rhodes22-list] Bow Lights - Wiring

Julie:
And what other secrets besides a history of splices, history of
corrosion have you kept from us?
In that case, running a new wire between the deck, the v berth roof,
etc., would be more difficult than worth it. I would run a new wire down
the front of boat at the v berth or wherever you can get a new wire from the
light into the v berth area. Run that wire along the edge of the V berth
lining wall to the potty area and down along the edge of the floor through
the under counter area to where you can connect to power. Try to be as neat
as reasonable, but not so perfect that it takes two weeks to run the wire.
My boat is a 1984 and obviously has been rewired in spots, maybe
more than once. My panel is on the wall like the new boats, which was not
the case when it was made. They did not necessarily remove old wires, but
trimmed the ends to tidy up. You have to look very closely to see what was
done.

Ed,
Our boat spent it's earlier days in Florida and we have found in some cases
that if you pull on some of the wires, they fall apart from corrosion. Our
intention is to replace most of the wiring and we started with the bow
lights because they were already intermittent. I forgot to mention that of
this specific wire run that we have found so far, there have been three
splices.
Julie
