Julie:
Do you own a multimeter? Narrows the problems if you have one and
use it. Digitals are nice, but I have a good sized one with old fashion
meter movement. You can get one like mine for about $20 at places like
Radio Shack or Home Depot. Do you know how to solder? If you solder those
splices and terminal connects you would likely solve some problems. And now
in days we have liquid electrical tape to coat the bare spots. Would you
believe? You do not have to use heat shrink even if you could find it.
Just remember those little electron fellows need a road to get there and a
road to get back.
And, you do not need boat lights during the day. Heck, the other
day I was sailing and had no battery. The boat sailed o.k.

Subject: Re: [Rhodes22-list] Attention Slim: Competition on the Lake

Julie,

That's great news! One of my favorite sailboats has been there for the last
few years. It's a Yankee Dolphin 24 named Icelander and I think Dan talked
to the owner, Bill Watson. We considered buying it before we found the
Rhodes. Coincidentally, Judi's dad used to own it years ago.

I think the Upper lake is fun because of all the islands and bays to sail
around. The disadvantage is the lack of destinations (bars and restaurants)
to sail to. The Minnetonka Mist in Spring Park Bay is just about it.

Dan probably showed you the boat ramp on the way out to Enchanted Island
where we launched. It's a bit rustic and it's too bad there's no dock
there, but it's close. Your other option is the new and wonderful ramp
across the lake on the southwest side. It's in the park--can't remember the
name. We just call it the Verne Gagne park because he donated his house on
the grounds. Other than that, there's Spring Park Bay, but it's usually
crowded. Those are the only three I've used.

We'll definitely have to have some cookouts in Boy Scout Bay. As for the
competition, I don't race, but for another R22 I'll make an exception. 8-)

Good luck with your bow light. Sorry it's giving you so much trouble.

Slim
